Abstract

The present invention relates to a screw conveyor for a decanter centrifuge. The screw conveyor defines a cylindrical portion and a conical portion, and comprises a central body. The screw conveyor defines a first helix attached to the central body. The first helix has a first diameter and a pitch angle of less than 20°. The screw conveyor also defines a second helix attached to the central body. The second helix has the same winding direction as the first helix and is at least partially interlocked with it. The second helix has a pitch angle greater than 30°, and its second diameter is smaller than the first diameter.
