Abstract

This invention relates to a concrete paver which incorporates strips of recycled rubber tire into its mixture to overcome critical limitations presented in normal pavers. This new feature further contributes to durability, efficiency and environmental value. The invention does promote the use of waste, as the strips do conserve the non-renewable material as it out of the garbage. The use of rubber tire strips greatly enhances the water absorption rate by allowing the paver to absorb much more water than normal, giving it high permeability for parking lots, driveways, and similar uses. As rubber provides reinforcement for the material, the final product is strong against cracking and deformation. Mechanical and physical properties of recycled tire rubber based concrete paver: compressed strength: 18-28 MPa, density: 2,700.8 kg / m³, water absorption: 13%, porosity: 5.93%. Such properties render it more durable and impact resistant, thus acceptable for use in metropolitan drainage, groundwater recharge, and surface runoff control. Moreover, the higher porosity and permeability of recycled tire rubber based concrete paver allows easy infiltration of water and percolation of rainwater to ground instead of causing surface runoff. This trait aids groundwater recharge and prevents urban flooding. Moreover, the procedure may be scaled and is cost-effective, making it a viable strategy for the development of sustainable infrastructure.
