System and method for pig health monitoring

Abstract

The present invention is a pig health monitoring system and method installed in a pig pen, integrating computer vision and thermal imaging for real-time health assessment. A microprocessor, equipped with a custom-trained computer vision model, processes data from a camera module to detect skin conditions such as rashes and scars. An infrared thermal camera monitors body temperature, detecting fever based on a predefined threshold. A mobile application communicates with the system via a communication module, enabling real-time notifications, remote control of a water sprinkler system, and video streaming through a connected streaming server. A relay module regulates water flow using a solenoid valve, while a Firebase database securely stores health data for further analysis. The entire system operates on solar power, ensuring energy efficiency. The system and method enhance pig welfare, facilitates early disease detection, and supports veterinarians and farm owners in maintaining optimal animal health.
