Abstract

A community dengue early warning system. The system comprises a base platform with a central hole for an ovicidal larvicidal (OL) trap cup containing a stick that attracts dengue-carrying mosquitoes. A vertical acrylic stand supports an upper acrylic platform via L-shaped braces, creating a vertical column that positions a 4 microcontroller, a camera module, and an adjustable microscopic lens directly above the trap. An LED light, controlled via a relay and regulated by a driver, illuminates the trap to assist in image capture. The system transmits image data through a local area network (LAN) connection to a central Web Application Server, which processes the images using adaptive thresholding, convolutional neural networks (CNN), and template matching techniques to detect mosquito eggs. The server integrates data from a weather station and city health office, then issues alerts to barangay halls, local government units, and the ISU BIRD-C monitoring office through web and mobile applications. This architecture enables real-time surveillance and early community-level dengue outbreak alerts, improving the efficiency and responsiveness of public health intervention.
