Apparatus for reading draft marks

Abstract

An apparatus for reading draft marks of a vessel comprises a telescopic pole, a reel assembly for winding and unwinding at least one hoisting line, a mounting tube, at least one guiding member removably and magnetically coupled to the mounting tube, and a carriage assembly suspended by the hoisting line. The carriage assembly supports a recording unit having a capturing device holder and an illumination device holder. The capturing device captures real-the images wirelessly to a display device held by a mobile device holder mounted on the telescopic pole. The guiding member is pivotable relative to the mounting tube, and tension in the hoisting line biases the guiding member toward the mounting tube to maintain magnetic coupling during use. The apparatus enables safer, more efficient draft mark reading without direct physical 20 access to the vessel hull.
