Abstract
This present utility model discloses a natural molluscicide made from mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni) seed leachate, using dehulled mahogany seeds and tap water. The Golden Apple Snail (GAS) is a major pest in rice fields, and while synthetic molluscicides are effective, they can harm both human health and the environment. As a safer alternative, this eco-friendly molluscicide is made by grinding 100 grams of mahogany seeds, soaking them in 900 milliliters of tap water for 24 hours, and straining the mixture. The resulting milky solution has been proven effective in controlling GAS in lab tests. Easy to prepare, affordable, and made from locally available materials, this botanical molluscicide is a great option for rice farmers shifting to organic farming.
