Abstract

The present utility model relates to a sushi composition utilizing sauteed fermented shrimp paste as a flavor component to provide enhanced umami flavor and localized culinary characteristics. The sushi composition comprises a sushi rice component, a nori sheet component, at least one pickled vegetable component, a fruit component, and a sauteed fermented shrimp paste component. The pickled vegetable component may comprise pickled cucumber, pickled string beans, pickled papaya, or combinations thereof, while the fruit component preferably comprises ripe mango. The sauteed fermented shrimp paste component provides enhanced flavor complexity and promotes the utilization of locally available fermented seafood products in sushi compositions. The sushi composition may be configured as a sushi roll wrapped in a nori sheet component suitable for slicing and consumption.
