Process for producing (S)-2-(1,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2H-indeno[5,4-b-furan-8-yl) ethylamine

Abstract

Industrial process for producing highly pure optically active amine, wherein formation of side products are controlled, is provided. In said process, (E)-2-(1,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2H-indeno[5,4-b]furan-8-yliderie) ethylamine is subjected to asymmetric reduction reaction, and further the resulting reaction products are catalytically reduced under a condition of reaction temperature of 40°C to 100°C and pH 3 to 9, then obtained (S)-2-(1,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2H-indeno[5,4-b]furan-8-yl) ethylamine is subjected to propionylation reaction, followed by crystallizing from the reaction solution.
