Abstract

This invention relates to a mill for extracting sugar cane juice from of a layer of products, said mill including at least two pressing rolls revolving in opposite directions for driving and pressing the layer of products at a zone intended for compressing and evacuating the juices and a downstream exit zone of said layer of products, wherein one at least of both rolls may exhibit peripheral annular grooves intended for letting the extracted juices flow. The mill of the invention exhibits, moreover, means for limiting the re-absorption of the cane juices after pressing, said means exhibiting, in the downstream exit zone of the layer of products, on the one hand, an anti-expansion channel situated downstream of the pressing zone, and inside which the layer of pressed products is directed, constrained by the rolls in rotation, and on the other hand means for adjusting the section of the channel for compacting said layer in the channel, at least locally. According to the invention, said anti-expansion channel exhibits at least one length whereon the channel diverges, so-called relief zone, followed by said means for adjusting the section of the channel for making the channel converge over a corresponding zone, so-called counter-pressure zone.
