The present invention relates to a compound of Formula (I): wherein: X is -CH2-CH2- or -CH(C2H5)-CH2-; R, is selected from the group consisting of: -R4-CR3-Z-R6-CI-IO alkyl; -R4-CR3-Z-R6-aryl; -R4-CR3-Z-R6-heteroaryl; -R4-NR7-CR3-R6-CI-IO alkyl; -R4-NR7-CR3-R6-aryl; and -R4-NRrCR3-R6-heteroaryl; Z is -NR5-; R2 is selected from the group consisting of: -hydrogen; -CI-4 alkyl; methoxyethyl; and ethoxymethyl; R3 is =0; R4 is C1-10 alkyl; R, is H or C1-10 alkyl; Rei is a bond, or C1-10 alkyl; R7 is H, or C1-10 alkyl; or Ra and R7 can join together to form a 6- membered ring. that contain ether and amide functionality at the 1-position are useful as immune response modifiers.
