Abstract

A reactor for treating high viscosity plastic melts comprises a horizontal, cylindrical container having a vapor exhaust and having chambers provided in the area of the melt sump by positioning sheet metal walls, through which ring disks, which are used ,as stirring elements and are attached via spokes to the shaft, are rotatable, two diametrically opposite strippers which are connected in a stationary war to the interior of the container being guided angularly offset in each of the intermediate $paces of the ring disks and being guided past the front faces of the ring disks and the mantle of the shaft at a close distance. To simplify the mounting and dismounting of the shaft and the strippers, the strippers are each connected to the interior of the container using a formfitting connection.
