Abstract

The invention relates to a catalyst for use in a process of direct alkane dehydrogenation to propylene, and the method for preparing the catalyst and, more particularly, modified with SAPO-34 as support. The present invention gives significant improvement in dehydrogenation of light alkane (non-oxidative) to propylene using bimetallic Pt-Sn-based catalyst, supported on silicoaluminophosphate zeolite molecular sieve (SAPO-34). The catalyst is prepared by doping of the promoter Sn and thereafter Pt, on SAPO-34 zeolite catalyst by co-impregnation method, sequentially. USE - The catalyst is used for preparing propylene with direct propane and / or butane dehydrogenation. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has higher propylene selectivity and yield, with lower deactivation rate.
