A cropping system whereby a naturally occurring salt resistant fodder grass such as Panicum turgidum is grown by using brackish water for irrigation on salty soil while maintaining low soil salinity with the help of a local salt absorbing leaf-succulent perennial shrub Suaeda fruticosa along with the grass for producing a high quality fodder crop for livestock with high yield.
