Abstract
Bacillus anthracis is a capsulated, non-motile, spore-forming, and Gram-positive rod. The basic phenotypic and biochemical characteristics of B. anthracis are also shared by other Bacillus species. Therefore, the identification is complicated. An identification kit containing novel Phages; Seq ID 1 (OM112209 Bacillus phage PK 1), Seq ID2 (OM112210 - Bacillus phage PK 2) and Seq ID 3 (ON881243 - Bacillus phage PK 3) as active ingredient is provided to ensure specific lysis of vegetative cells of B. anthracis and serves as part of the basis for identification of isolates from agar cultures. These phages were isolated from a pool of soil samples. The identification of B. anthracis culture in the laboratory by two methods (i) Spot on the streaks (ii) Spot on the lawn. The present invention comprising of above-mentioned Bacillus Phage as the active ingredient for countermeasure of anthrax in the form injectable, gel and ointment for treatment of anthrax in warm blooded animals.
