Abstract

The invention relates to the field of the protection of security documents such as for example banknote and identity document against counterfeit and illegal reproduction. In particular, the present invention provides security document and decorative article comprising one or more optical effect layers on a substrate (x20, 320) and method for producing said optical effect layer on the substrate (x20, 320), said optical effect layer comprising magnetically oriented platelet-shaped magnetic or magnetizable pigment particle in an at least partially cured coating layer (x10, 310) and exhibiting an eyecatching optical effect thus allowing an observer to easily authenticate said optical effect layer upon titling at viewing / observation angle between about -45° and about +45°.
