Abstract

An energy recovery device for the gas fired water geyser is employed with a system of appliances such as a steam producing chamber with outer cylinder and a counter flow unmixed steam condenser. The steam producing chamber is placed over the path of flue gases arriving from the water geyser while the outer cylinder is placed around them to ensure that the flue gases pass through the annulus formed between the steam producing chamber and the outer cylinder. The intimate thermal communication of the flue gases with the steam producing chamber produces steam which moves up under buoyancy forces. While giving away their energy to the steam producing chamber, the flue gases leave the system to the environment at a much lesser temperature and energy content. The steam vapors produced are collected at the top of the steam producing chamber from where they are routed under gravity action to pass through the counter flow unmixed steam condenser. While hot steam vapors enter from one side of the condenser and giving away their energy and thus condensing into clean drinkable distilled water, the other side of the steam condenser brings in cold water before it gets into the water geyser and with this it gets warmed up by receiving thermal energy given away by the hot condensing steam vapors. This preheated water to the geyser thus saves energy which is required to heat up the water in the geyser to the desired thermostat setting. The end product of this invention is 'Energy Savings' as well as continuously flowing distilled purified water for drinking purposes in a single device described herein.
