Abstract
The subject of the application is a method for oxidizing geraniol in the presence of a catalyst, consisting of mixing geraniol with a catalyst in an amount from 0.5% by weight to 5% by weight relative to geraniol, under atmospheric pressure, with a stirring intensity of 500 rpm, in an oxygen atmosphere. The oxidation process is carried out in the presence of oxygen supplied from a cylinder through a sparger using an oxygen flow of 40 ml / minute, for a time from 15 minutes to 360 minutes. The invention is characterized in that almandine (garnet) is used as the catalyst, and the process is carried out at a temperature of 75°C-120°C. Preferably, the catalyst used is almandine with the composition: SiO2 39%, Al2O3 21%, Fe2O3 17%, CaO 9.5%, Fe2O 8%, MgO 5%, TiO2 0.05%. Preferably, geraniol is introduced into the glass reactor first, then the catalyst, and finally oxygen is introduced through a sparger.
