Abstract

A method of processing flotation tailings into a building material in which mineral components, including activated crushed flotation tailings containing limestone and silicate material, are mixed with water and then, after maturing, hardened under hydrothermal conditions into a formed shape. Active calcium and magnesium oxides and silica are introduced into the mixture with the mineral component, which is thermally activated flotation tailings, and in synthesis reactions, low-base hydrated calcium and magnesium silicates and calcium aluminosilicates are formed. Furthermore, a composition for the production of autoclaved molded building materials comprises 80%-85% by weight, preferably 82%, of thermally activated flotation tailings, 14%-19.8% by weight, preferably 17.6% by weight, of water, and furthermore an addition of a superplasticizer in an amount of 0.2%-1.0% by weight, preferably 0.4% by weight of the flotation tailings used.
