Abstract
A cutting tool for grooving or parting off comprises a tool holder (1) and an interchangeable cutting insert (2). The cutting insert is freely positioned in a mounting slot of the tool holder mounting socket (5) laterally and is positioned under a resiliently movable upper clamping jaw (11) and on a movable clamping tongue of the lower jaw base. The abutment surface (25) of the lower surface of the insert engages the abutment surface (17) of the front surface of the jaw base, and the abutment surface (25) of the lower surface of the insert contacts the abutment surface (17) of the rear surface of the jaw base (16) of the mounting socket. The method of mounting a longitudinally elongated cutting insert into the socket of the tool holder mounting holder consists in sliding the cutting insert (2) freely into an intermediate position into the mounting slot of the tool holder mounting socket (5) from the side until more than half of the length L of the insert (2) is at the rear of the front part of the socket and generating a pushing force using a tool wrench, which is applied to the cutting insert (2), until the abutment surface (25) of the lower surface of the insert, closest to the working cutting part, engages the abutment surface (17) of the front surface of the jaw base and the abutment surface (25) of the lower surface of the insert, furthest removed from the working cutting part, contacts the abutment surface (17) of the rear surface of the jaw base (16) of the mounting socket, reaching the target mounting position.
