Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for producing flame-retardant polyhydroxyurethane materials, which comprises the following two sequential steps. In the first step, a catalyzed reaction of epoxidized vegetable oil with carbon dioxide is carried out, resulting in carbonized vegetable oil. In the second step, in the presence of a polyhydroxy sugar alcohol previously mixed with trimethyl phosphate in a mass ratio of 0.6:1.6 to 3.7:4.8, the carbonized vegetable oil is crosslinked using a naturally derived amine compound containing at least two primary amine groups. The alcohol and phosphate mixture is introduced, at a temperature of 40±5°C, into carbonized vegetable oil, in a mass ratio of 0.75-1.25:10, respectively, and the components are mixed until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, to which an aliphatic, primary polyamine compound is then introduced in such an amount that the molar ratio of amine groups to cyclic carbonate groups of the oil is 0.75-1.25:1.0, after which the mixture is mixed intensively for 5 minutes, then poured into a mold and heated at 100°C for 2 to 3 hours, and then at 80°C for another 2 to 4 hours, to obtain a cross-linked polyhydroxyurethane material with reduced flammability.
