Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for reducing nitrogen from poultry manure by separating uric acid by gravity separation in which, in the first stage, poultry manure is suspended in an aqueous alkaline medium, adding sodium, potassium or lime base, at a pH above 9, preferably pH 11, at a temperature of 40°C to 55°C, preferably 50°C, and heated for at least 2 hours to dissolve the uric acid, selecting the amount of water in accordance with the table.1, then filtration and centrifugation are carried out so that the sediment - the low-nitrogen fraction of poultry manure - is separated from the high-nitrogen supernatant, the sediment is intended for methane fermentation, while the supernatant is subjected to further processing by adding an acidifying agent in the form of at least one organic or inorganic acid, preferably lactic acid or acetic acid or sulfuric acid, to achieve a pH below 6.0, after which the mixture is cooled and at a temperature of 4°C - 25°C, preferably 20°C, uric acid is precipitated in the form of a sediment and separated by filtration and centrifugation, the resulting supernatant is directed to the methane fermentation process, while the high-nitrogen sediment (containing mainly uric acid) can be used for fertilizer purposes.
