Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for obtaining intercalated montmorillonite (MMT), intended for use in polymeric materials processing technology, including the production of nanocomposites with high functional properties, especially based on biodegradable polymers. The method for obtaining intercalated montmorillonite (MMT) consists in: montmorillonite pre-dispersed in water is subjected to the action of ultrasonic waves, and the resulting suspension is treated—also in an ultrasonic field—with an aqueous solution of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in such a way that the mass fractions of both dissolved components, i.e. MMT and PVP, are 1:2, respectively. Afterwards, the resulting mixture is separated into three layers, subjected to decantation, separation of the lower precipitated layer, and filtration and drying of the target product in a known manner.
