Abstract

The subject of the application is a propellant system for 40 mm caliber grenade launcher ammunition. The system consists of two propellant combustion chambers. The high-pressure chamber is located in the bottom of the projectile / grenade (3), and the low-pressure chamber (4) is the post-propulsion space of the cartridge, enclosed by the cartridge case (1). The igniting flame from the primer (2) enters the high-pressure chamber through holes in the bottom plug of the propellant capsule, igniting the propellant. The pressure of the propellant gases compresses the sealing petals against the bottom plug (9). The petals seal the propellant capsule by plugging the holes in the bottom plug. When the preset pressure is reached, the sealing petals burst at the holes in the bottom plug, and the propellant gases enter the low-pressure chamber (4).
