Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for determining the susceptibility of the rail running surface to the formation of surface defects, characterized in that it consists of stages in which a hole is drilled in the rail running surface using a core drill, with the drilling center marked on the rod (4) formed as a result of drilling; then a cone (5) is pressed into the marked drilling center of the rod (4), while the force and depth of pressing the cone (5) are continuously recorded; after the rod (4) has fractured, the pressing of the cone (5) and the recording of the force and depth are stopped; then the maximum force recorded during the entire measurement and the depth (h) of the pressed cone (5) are checked at the moment of recording the maximum force and the area of ​​the lateral surface of the cone (5) in contact with the rod (4) at the moment of its fracture are calculated;and then the coefficient of susceptibility of the rail running surface to surface cracks is calculated as the ratio of the maximum pressing force and the lateral surface area of ​​the pressed cone according to the formula: Wp=F / Sb.;
