Abstract

The application relates to a device (1) worn on a wrist (7) for biometrically verifying the identity of a user, comprising a skin topography sensor (2) and a central unit (5) connected thereto for receiving and processing sensor data, held on the wrist (7) by a carrier element of the device (1) and characterized in that it further comprises an inertial sensor (3) connected to the central unit (5). The central unit (5) is configured for biometrically verifying the user based on the joint analysis of sensor data received from the skin topography sensor (2) and the inertial sensor (3).The subject of the application is also a method for biometric verification of a user's identity, comprising registering a topography image; registering inertial data; classifying the registered skin topography image as being consistent with or inconsistent with a previously registered skin topography pattern and retaining, respectively, a positive or negative partial verification; classifying the registered inertial data as being consistent with or inconsistent with a previously registered inertial data pattern and retaining, respectively, a positive or negative partial verification; repeating the registration and classification steps at predetermined intervals and accumulating subsequent partial verifications separately for the skin topography images and the inertial data.A positive verification and user authentication occurs if M consecutive positive partial verifications have been obtained among the last cumulative partial verifications of skin topography images, where M ≥ 1; and at least N threshold positive partial verifications have been obtained among the last Npos cumulative partial verifications of inertial data, where N threshold ≤ Npos, otherwise a negative verification and user authentication occurs.
