Abstract
The subject of the application is a cultivation component, a method for its production, an organic growing medium, and the use of biomass. The cultivation component contains composted biomass of lignocellulosic willow (Salix sp.), chaff from Miscanthus x giganteus, and biodegradable by-products from the production of silage feed, in an amount corresponding to a carbon to nitrogen ratio of 1:25–1:30, all of which is subjected to the action of the Peniophora gigantea enzymatic system. The cultivation component is made from a mixture of: Salix sp. willow chips and Miscanthus x giganteus chaff, crushed to particles with a diameter of up to 5 mm, and biodegradable by-products resulting from the production of fodder silage, added in an amount ensuring the most optimal carbon to nitrogen content of 1:25 - 1:30, expressed in weight ratios (m:m) on a dry matter basis. The entire mixture is inoculated with a biological preparation from Peniophora gigantea and irrigated to a level of 40%-50%. The process is carried out for at least four months, until a stable, homogeneous product is obtained. The resulting product is a component that replaces peat in horticultural growing media.
