Abstract
The subject of the application is a method for manufacturing rods from a zinc-based alloy, intended in particular for bioabsorbable medical implants, in which the alloy is hot extruded and then hydrostatic extrusion of the obtained prefabricated product is carried out, which consists in that an alloy based on zinc with magnesium with a content of Mg from 0.1% by weight to 0.5% by weight, Ca 0.5% by weight ± 0.1% by weight, Sr 0.5% by weight ± 0.1% by weight.hot extrusion at a temperature of 250°C ± 10°C, and then the cross-sectional area of the hot extruded rod - prefabricated product (1) is reduced in a hydrostatic extrusion operation, in which the prefabricated product constitutes a charge (1) pressed through a die (4), wherein the reduction of the cross-sectional area of the charge (1) is carried out in no more than two subsequent hydrostatic extrusion operations, and the reduction of the cross-sectional area in the first operation is at least 2, obtaining a fine-grained structure of the material (7), the average grain size of which is less than 1 µm, the yield strength of the material greater than 300 MPa, and the tensile strength limit greater than 400 MPa, elongation greater than 4.5% and a corrosion rate in the range from 0.5 to 0.02 mm / year, wherein the initial temperature of the charge (1) does not exceed 30°C, and the hydrostatic extrusion product (7) leaving the die (4) is cooled myself. The subject of the application is also a method of manufacturing a bioabsorbable medical implant.
