Method of producing an additive for mineral-asphalt mixtures and mineral-asphalt mixture containing an additive produced by this method

Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for producing an additive from used tires to asphalt mixtures, comprising the following steps: a) used tires are crushed and the synthetic fiber is separated from the rubber fraction, obtaining a feed in the form of a mixture of synthetic fibers; b) the mixture of synthetic fibers is subjected to conditioning, during which the mixture is heated to a temperature of 40°C to 120°C, compacted by applying a pressure of 100 to 150 bar and moistened to a moisture level of 1% to 10%, obtaining a mixture with a bulk density of 150 to 300 kg / m3; c) the mixture is heated to a maximum of 140°C and granulated in a granulator with a matrix with a channel diameter of 2 to 12 mm at a compression ratio of 5 to 10, obtaining granules with a bulk density of 300 to 600 kg / m3. The subject of the application is also a mineral-asphalt mixture containing the above-described additive in an amount of 0.1% to 2% by weight of the mineral part of the mineral-asphalt mixture.
