AI Technical Summary
Existing transportable amusement devices, such as large Ferris wheels, face challenges with size limitations due to regulatory constraints on trailer length and weight, requiring special permits and heavy, oversized vehicles for transportation.
A cross-shaped arrangement of multiple support structures, including central carriages, provides a stable and large-area spider-like support, allowing for the use of standard-compliant road vehicles and maintaining permissible length and weight for road traffic, with optional slanted rear sides and connecting irons for adjustable stability.
Enables the transportation and setup of larger amusement devices, like XXL Ferris wheels, without exceeding road traffic regulations, reducing transport costs and logistical complexities, and ensuring stability under various conditions.
Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a transportable amusement device, in particular a ride such as a Ferris wheel, a carousel, a roller coaster, swings, propellers or the like, with a support structure resting on several vehicles such as trailers or semi-trailers, in particular so-called centrally mounted vehicles, or on a pallet structure.
[0002] DE 10 2020 129 886 A1 already discloses a "transportable amusement ride" in which, in the assembly position of the Ferris wheel, at least two vehicles are arranged side by side and one transversely to the other. In principle, the support structure of such transportable Ferris wheels is supported on several vehicles. Similar results also emerge from DE 10 2020 115 730 A1 and DE 20 2020 103 420 U1. For example, DE 89 11 634 U1 discloses a Ferris wheel whose entire structure is housed on a total of three carriages placed side by side. Supporting elements are supported on the two outer carriages, which also include supports that extend diagonally outwards, viewed from the front of the structure. The spoke structure for the wheel rim is located above the middle carriage. However, the size of such a Ferris wheel is limited.
[0003] When erecting larger Ferris wheels, for example, with a height of 60-100 meters, that are still transportable, the vehicles used for them, generally referred to as mid-deck trailers or trailers, must be very long and heavy. They are not legally permitted under road traffic regulations, as the maximum trailer size according to the EURO standard is 13.6 meters. The vehicles are also very heavy, weighing approximately 50 tons together with the tractor unit. Moving these vehicles on public roads and paths always requires a special permit, escort vehicles, and in some cases, the police may even be involved.
[0004] In times of dilapidated bridges and excessively high weights, this concept is therefore proving to be outdated.
[0005] The object of the present invention is therefore to be able to design a particularly high amusement ride, in particular a Ferris wheel, or the like, using standard road vehicles, ie semi-trailers or mid-body vehicles.
[0006] This object is achieved according to the invention by providing at least four to five cross-shaped support structures, in particular central carriages. Such a cross-shaped arrangement enables particularly stable and extensive support in a spider shape. In a further, improved embodiment, 6, 7, or 8, or 9 or 10 cross-shaped support structures, in particular central carriages, are also provided, which are centrally connected to one another and form a funnel-shaped entrance area, while also serving as mast and storage carriages.
[0007] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
[0008] This shows in Fig. 1: a mobile Ferris wheel substructure in pallet form or on trailers / semi-trailers with 5 trailers; Fig. 2: with 6 trailers; Fig. 3: with 7 trailers; Fig. 4: with 9 trailers; Fig. 5: with two trailers arranged side by side, two trailers arranged behind each other, and four trailers arranged in a cross shape; Fig. 6: with three trailers arranged side by side, three trailers arranged behind each other, and four trailers arranged in a cross shape.
[0009] A Ferris wheel, generally designated 1, has a support structure 2, which can consist of several vehicles such as trailers or semi-trailers, in particular central carriages 3, or even a pallet construction. According to the invention, these are arranged in a star shape, i.e., in addition to a first longitudinally directed central carriage 4a, four further central carriages 4', 4", 4"', 4ʺʺ - 4‴ʺʺʺ are connected to the longitudinally arranged central carriage 4a. Two central carriages 4a, 4b can also be arranged one behind the other to reinforce the structure and increase the weight of the support structure. Additionally, two, three or more central carriages 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f can also be arranged next to one another and parallel to the carriages 4a, 4f. It is only important that, in addition to the longitudinal and transverse central carriages 4a - 4d, cross-shaped central carriages 4' - 4ʺʺʺʺ are also provided, which provide a spider-shaped support for the entire support structure 2.By combining the individual modules (4 - 4''''''), a maximum length and weight permitted for road traffic is maintained, eliminating the need for heavy transport with the associated costs and disadvantages. Hydraulic units are typically provided on the vehicles for erecting the Ferris wheel, its main axle, wheel hub, and spokes, as well as the attached gondolas. The central carriages (4 - 4'''''') are used outside of the assembly position for transporting the individual parts of the Ferris wheel or other portable amusement equipment, such as a carousel, roller coaster, or similar.
[0010] In an alternative embodiment, at least four support structures with a slanted rear end, in particular central carriages 5a-d with a slanted rear end 7, are provided. The central carriages are not directly connected to one another, but rather via connecting irons attached to them. In this case, the central carriages 3, 5a-d, constructed by trestle and spoke carriages, are not directly bolted to one another, but rather connected via spacers 6 or other suitable connectors. Depending on the selected angle of the rear slant 7, the carriages spread out more or less widely, thus influencing stability depending on local requirements, space available, and wind loads to be observed.
[0011] The proposed design with high stability makes it possible, for example, to erect an XXL Ferris wheel with a wind load of up to 4, which means it can be installed near the coast.
[0012] Of course, the invention is not limited to the illustrated embodiments. Further embodiments are possible without departing from the basic concept. For example, it is also possible for the basic structure to consist of pallets, concrete blocks, sand or water containers in addition to centrally positioned wagons, and for these to be arranged in a cross-shaped or spider-like pattern in all directions.
