Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for producing a composite containing mullite, SiC and SiO2 comprising the following steps: dispersing at least one clay raw material to obtain at least one dispersed clay raw material, drying and roasting at least one dispersed clay raw material at a temperature range from 900°C to 1300°C to obtain a sinter, cooling the sinter to obtain a cooled sinter, grinding the cooled sinter to obtain a ground sinter, homogenizing the ground sinter with a reagent constituting a carbon source to obtain a mixture, roasting the mixture obtained in the homogenization step in a reducing atmosphere at a temperature range from 850°C to 1000°C to obtain a roasted product, pressing the roasted product to obtain a pressed product, and sintering the pressed product in an argon atmosphere at a temperature range from 1100°C to 1800°C to obtain a composite containing mullite, SiC and SiO2.The subject of the application is also a composite containing mullite, SiC and SiO2 with the following phase composition: from 20% to 50% by weight of mullite, from 5% to 30% by weight of SiC and from 4% to 20% by weight of SiO2, in each case based on the total weight of the composite.
