Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for obtaining a filler for elastomeric rubber compositions, reducing flammability and imparting thermostable properties to these compositions, which consists in mechanically mixing keratin crushed into particles with a diameter of less than 2 mm at a vibration frequency of 30 s-1 during 30 s with casein with a particle diameter of less than 300 mm, melamine with a particle diameter of less than 12 µm, or melamine polyphosphate with a particle diameter of less than 25 µm, while maintaining a 50:50 weight ratio of keratin to admixture. The application also relates to an elastomeric composition of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber containing 5 parts by weight of the above-mentioned filler per 100 parts by weight of rubber.
