Abstract
This application concerns the determination of liver damage due to type 2 diabetes by measuring spectra using Raman spectroscopy. This application may be used to estimate damage to internal organs (liver) caused by type 2 diabetes. The method for detecting liver damage as a complication of type 2 diabetes involves homogenizing the collected liver using physiological saline. The obtained liver homogenates from the control and study groups are applied to a calcium fluoride slide using an automatic pipette and allowed to dry at room temperature. After the liver homogenate samples have dried, the measurements are performed using any Raman spectrometer equipped with a laser with an electromagnetic wavelength of 532 nm and a laser power of 7 mW. Liver damaged due to type 2 diabetes is distinguished from undamaged livers by the Raman shift of the band at 2932 cm-1.
