Abstract

The subject of the application is the use of xanthurenic acid to prevent graying of hair. The acid increases the number of melanocytes in hair follicles. The subject of the application is also a cosmetic composition containing an active ingredient in combination with at least one carrier and / or cosmetic diluent, characterized in that the active ingredient comprises xanthurenic acid in an amount of 0.01% to 3.0%. The cosmetic composition may preferably be in the form of a shampoo, conditioner, or hair lotion.
