Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for producing a highly porous biomaterial for stimulating cell growth in a three-dimensional (3D) culture, and a highly porous biomaterial produced by this method capable of stimulating cell growth in a 3D culture, as well as its use. The highly porous biomaterial (foam / sponge / structure / scaffold) is made of a polysaccharide: sodium alginate, a divalent metal salt of alginic acid, sodium hyaluronate, or a mixture thereof, and is characterized by increased moisture sorption and a system of interconnected pores with a porosity exceeding 80% ± 5%, additionally stimulating cell proliferation.
