Selenium and arsenic concentrations in blood and changes in the HRG gene as risk factors for cancers and all-cause mortality in women with a hereditary predisposition to breast cancer

Abstract

Unexpectedly, a correlation was found between the risk of cancer and all-cause mortality and the concentration of selenium and arsenic in a whole blood sample, along with the assessment of HRG gene variations. Excessively low and high blood selenium and arsenic concentrations indicate an increased risk of all-cause mortality and mortality among women with a hereditary predisposition to breast cancer, depending on HRG gene variations.
