Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for austenitizing and galvanizing a cast iron casting, characterized in that, following the austenitizing process, an isothermal hardening process is performed in a hardening medium consisting of liquid zinc. From the beginning of the austenitizing process until its emergence from the zinc bath, the casting is continuously protected by a protective atmosphere of an inert gas or vacuum. The subject of the application also includes a device for implementing this method.
