Abstract

The subject of the application is methods for determining the orientation and assessing the suitability of seeds for sowing, particularly oak seeds. The innovative nature of this solution lies in the ability to replace cameras and vision systems with simple optoelectronic detectors (e.g., color sensors). The first method involves differential measurement of light parameters reflected from two sides of the seed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Determining the current seed orientation involves analyzing the differences in readings in the control system. The second method involves classifying scarified seeds into one of at least two suitability categories: PASS / UNPASS. This segregation is based on detecting the color of the scarification surface. The decision to assign seeds to health categories is made at the controller level, based on experimentally generated ranges. The solution can be implemented in existing or newly developed devices designed for automatic seed scarification.
