Grinding device with an offset center of gravity

Abstract

The subject of the application is a grinding medium in the form of a ball, which comprises a basic material (1) of volume V1 and a filling (2, 4) of volume V2, wherein the volume V2 is from 10% to 50% of the total volume of the grinding medium, and at the same time the density 11 of volume V1 is different from the density 12 of volume V2, wherein the density 12 is from 20% to 300% less or more than the density 11 of volume V1, and the center of gravity of the grinding medium is shifted relative to the geometric center of the ball. The subject of the application is also a method of manufacturing a grinding medium, comprising the steps of forming a ball from a basic grinding medium material (1), placing a filling (2, 4) of a different density inside it, consolidating the structure by casting, isostatic pressing (CIP) or sintering, wherein the filling (2, 4) is located eccentrically with respect to the axis of the ball.
