Description

A PIECE OF EMBROIDERY AND ITS METHOD TECHNICAL AREA OF THE INVENTION This invention falls within the field of embroidery, more specifically embroidery formed on a canvas, typically made of jute, burlap or similar material, in which embroidery is formed with a thread of a second material, such as wool. Specifically, the present invention is based on the concepts of the traditional Portuguese technique known as Arraiolos embroidery, enabling an innovative solution with new qualities, distinct from the classic Arraiolos technique. STATE OF THE ART The closest known solutions in the state of the art consist of embroidery techniques on canvas, such as jute, burlap, linen, hemp, coarse cloth or hemp. Some examples of embroidery on canvas, although using techniques entirely different from those used in the present invention, can be found in US patent 4,233,918 or US patent 4,075,962. According to the classic Arraiolos embroidery technique, embroidery is done with one or more strands of thick wool on a canvas made of one of the aforementioned materials. These embroideries form motifs that completely fill the canvas, creating a recognizable visual design or pattern with symmetrical characteristics. - 2 0 Arraiolos embroidery is composed of two types of stitches: i) outline stitch, which is used to define the outline of the motifs, and ii) filling stitch, a stitch to fill in a) the interior of the portions delimited by the outline stitch and b) the exterior of the portions delimited by the outline stitch (also called background stitch). This rigid structure creates motifs, patterns, and—typically—tapestries with a very distinctive appearance. The present invention allows, through an innovative method and corresponding embroidery piece structure, obtaining an embroidery piece in which a distinct relief is formed, avoiding the use of two distinct types of stitches: outline and filling. In other words, the present invention allows, on the one hand, a simplification of the process of obtaining an embroidered piece and, on the other hand, the creation of reliefs that would be imperceptible in the aforementioned classic technique. 3. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention includes an embroidery piece. In one embodiment of this embroidery piece, it comprises i) a canvas and ii) a plurality of woolen threads embroidered onto the canvas through the aforementioned openings. The screen comprises a front section, a back section, and a plurality of interconnected lines spaced along two perpendicular axes, defining a multiplicity of openings. The woolen thread embroidery on the canvas forms the embroidery used in traditional Arraiolos embroidery. In an innovative way, the embroidery piece of the present invention further comprises at least one embroidered portion which in turn comprises woolen threads embroidered on the canvas that form two or more adjacent embroidery stitches along a direction perpendicular to the embroidery direction, said adjacent embroidery stitches being of the Arraiolos fill stitch type, the Arraiolos contour stitch type and / or the Arraiolos oblique stitch type, and in such a way that this embroidered portion on the canvas is filled with embroidery stitches of the Arraiolos fill stitch type, the Arraiolos contour stitch type and / or the Arraiolos oblique stitch type.
