Abstract

The invention relates to a system and a process of injecting CO2 in the fossil carbon-based fuels extraction wells, for their capture, utilization and storage, reducing harmful climate effects on the environment. According to the invention, the injection system comprises a plurality of injection valves arranged in different injection locations in an injection well of a subterraneous formation, each injection valve being configured to control a CO2 flow and a pressure drop through the valve and to inject a part of the flow into the subterraneous formation, the system having one or more sensors for monitoring flow pressure and temperature in each injection valve, a controller in communication with the injection valves provided with a logic system of CO2 flow control in each injection location and a controllable pressure source of CO2 flow in the injection well, and each injection valve includes temperature and pressure restrictions through which the controller dynamically adjusts the flow at each valve. The claimed process of CO2 injection in different injection locations consists in sensing the flow pressure and temperature leading to each injection location, determining a CO2 phase based on the pressure and temperature leading to the respective injection locations and dynamically adjusting the flow in each injection location based on the phase in order to maintain at least a threshold density of CO2 injected in each injection location.
