Abstract
The invention is related to novel sorption materials based on jute fibers obtained by recycling of post-industrial textile waste. Non-woven sorption materials of different area density, thickness and bursting strength were fabricated using a needle-punch process. It was shown that non-woven sorption materials provided very good sorption capacity for crude oil, diesel oil and two types of motor oils with different characteristics. The oil sorption capacity of non-woven materials was strongly dependent on their area density and viscosity of studied oils. Non-woven sorbent with the lowest area density showed the best oil sorption capacity. Additionally, all sorption materials showed good reusability after five sorption cycles.
