Claims

1. A method for treating exhaust gas streams from an industrial process, comprising supply of exhaust gas flow; supplying a reagent comprising one or more chelating agents; combining the exhaust gas stream with the reactant to form a combined stream; and removing solids comprising at least a portion of one heavy metal from the combined stream by forming a solids residue comprising the heavy metal in a non-leachable form.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein one or more chelating agents comprise a mixture of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and aminotris(methylenephosphonic acid).

3. A system for treating exhaust gas streams from an industrial process, comprising a treatment fluid comprising a reagent comprising one or more chelating agents; at least one nozzle configured to communicate with the exhaust gas flow; particle collection system; and wherein at least one nozzle is configured to inject said treatment fluid into said exhaust gas stream to form a combined stream prior to entering the particle collection system, and the particle collection system is configured to separate solid particles comprising at least a portion of one heavy metal from the combined stream by forming a solid particle residue comprising the heavy metal in a non-leachable form.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein said processing fluid further comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a surfactant, a dispersant, and a superdispersant.

5. The system of claim 3, wherein the treatment fluid comprises a solvent comprising propylene glycol.
