Claims
1. A system for automatically detecting peripheral devices connected to a computer, comprising: identification device comprising: - a precision DC voltage converter that generates precise voltage for feeding to a resistive divider; - a resistive voltage divider that generates the required level of identification voltage to identify the connected peripheral device; - an analog-to-digital converter that converts the identification voltage level into digital form for feeding to the central processor of the computer; - a four-wire communication line between the computer and the identification device (two power lines + / -, a digital signal transmission line, an analog signal transmission line); - a three-wire communication line between the identification device and the connected peripheral device (two power lines + / - and a digital-to-analog signal line for control and reading data from the peripheral device); - software for determining the type of connected device; - software for managing each type of connected peripheral devices.
2. The system according to paragraph 1, which includes: - a precision DC voltage converter that generates precise voltage for feeding to a resistive divider; - a resistive voltage divider that generates the required level of identification voltage to identify the connected peripheral device; - an analog-to-digital converter that converts the identification voltage level into digital form for feeding to the central processor of the computer; - a four-wire communication line between the computer and the identification device (two power lines + / -, a digital signal transmission line, an analog signal transmission line); - a three-wire communication line between the identification device and the connected peripheral device (two power lines + / - and a digital-to-analog signal line for control and reading data from the peripheral device); - the connected device identification software running on the computer reads digital data for identifying the connected device from the analog-to-digital converter; - software that controls a specific connected device, executing upon receipt of an external control command (from a person or a program) and in accordance with the level of identification voltage received from the analog-to-digital converter.
3. The system according to paragraph 1 or 2, in which the connected peripheral device does not have a special built-in microcontroller required to perform the process of identifying the connected device.
4. The system according to paragraph 1 or 2, in which, to identify the connected peripheral device, an identification voltage is used, which is located on a specialized cable communication line between the device being identified and the analog-to-digital converter located in the computer.
5. The system according to paragraph 1 or 2, in which an identification voltage generated by a resistive voltage divider located in the identification device is used to identify the connected peripheral device.
6. The system according to claim 1 or 2, in which an identification voltage supplied to the resistive divider from a precision DC voltage converter is used to identify the connected peripheral device.
7. The system according to paragraph 1 or 2, in which the device for identifying the connected peripheral device can be structurally implemented in a separate housing or in a common housing with the connected peripheral device.
8. The system according to claim 1 or 2, in which the device for identifying the connected peripheral device is located on the cable communication line between the computer and the connected peripheral device.
9. The system according to claim 1 or 2, in which the software for identifying the connected device in an endless loop analyzes the voltage on a special cable communication line without using a hardware interrupt system.
10. The system according to claim 1 or 2, in which the software for controlling the connected peripheral device is called depending on the level of the identification voltage corresponding to the connected peripheral device.
