A method for producing veneer, which includes moving a cutting tool toward a rotating wood material with the possibility of producing a veneer strip, characterized in that the movement of the cutting tool is carried out along the axis of the wood material, the rotation of the wood material is carried out stepwise by turning at an angle after cutting the veneer along the length of the wood material, after which the wood material is raised by a given amount, and the cutting tool cuts the wood material along the length, returning and making a cut in the opposite direction, wherein the wood material is turned by an angle and raised by a given amount, ensuring the possibility of producing a veneer strip with a "toothed" surface without peeling cracks.
