Claims

1. A device for sifting or filtering, having a first, open, end and a second, closed, end, at least a section of the walls is perforated, and the outer part of the device has a means for installing the first an open vessel in fluid communication with the first end of the device, And wherein the outer part of the device has a means for installing a second open vessel in fluid communication with the second end of the device, so that when the first and second vessels are mounted on the device, a sealed volume is formed, wherein the internal volumes of the first and second vessels and the internal volume of the device are in fluid communication.

2. A sifting or filtering device according to claim 1, wherein the sifting or filtering device has a peripheral cuff or flange.

3. A device for sifting or filtering according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the device comprises outlets or perforations filled or covered with a sieve, mesh or filter material.

4. A sifting or filtering apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the walls of the apparatus consist of perforated or mesh material.

5. A sifting or filtering device according to any preceding claim, wherein the closed end of the device has the shape of a truncated cone.

6. A sieving or filtering device according to any preceding claim, wherein the means for mounting the first and / or second vessel is an interacting surface with a screw thread mounted on a surface of the sieving or filtering device.

7. A sieving or filtering device according to any preceding claim which has a peripheral collar or flange.

8. A sieving or filtering device according to any preceding claim, wherein the first and / or second vessels are laboratory and / or centrifuge tubes.

9. A method for processing a substance, comprising the following steps: (a) placing the substance inside the first interacting vessel; (b) installing a sieving or filtering device in fluid communication with the neck of the first interacting vessel, wherein the sieving or filtering device has a first, open, end and a second, closed, end, wherein at least a portion of the walls is perforated, wherein the outer part of the device has means for installing the first open vessel in fluid communication with the first end of the device, and wherein the outer part of the device has means for installing a second open vessel in fluid communication with the second end of the device, wherein the first, open, end of the device is mounted facing the neck of the first interacting vessel; (c) installing a second interacting vessel in fluid communication with the device, wherein the second, closed, end of the device is directed toward the neck of the second interacting vessel; so that an assembly is formed containing a sealed volume, wherein the internal volumes of the first and second vessels and the internal volume of the device are in fluid communication; and (d) forcing material through perforations or mesh material of the device.

10. The method according to claim 9, wherein the substance is a biological sample of a human or animal.

11. The method according to claim 9 or 10, wherein the substance is a sample of feces or faeces.

12. An apparatus comprising a sifting or filtering device according to any one of paragraphs 1-8 and a first interacting vessel mounted thereon.

13. An apparatus comprising a sieving or filtering device according to any one of claims 1 to 8, also comprising a second interacting vessel mounted thereon.

14. An injection molding tool for producing a sieving or filtering device according to any one of claims 1 to 8.

15. A kit comprising a sieving or filtering device according to any one of claims 1-8 and an interacting vessel.
