A protective coating for food products containing a polymer dispersion and a modifier, wherein the polymer dispersion is a dispersion based on vinyl acetate or its copolymers, characterized in that a paraffin dispersion is used as a modifier, in an amount of 8% of the weight of the polymer dispersion, and a mixture of propionic acid or its salt and a salt of sorbic acid acts as an antifungal and antibacterial component, with the following ratio of components, wt.%: polyvinyl acetate dispersion 35-50 paraffin dispersion 3-4 propionic acid or its salt 1,5-2,5 sorbic acid salt 1,5-2,5 water-soluble food coloring 0,3-0,5 water up to 100
