A dental composition in the form of a prolonged-release gel intended for the treatment and prevention of inflammatory diseases of the periodontium and oral mucosa, containing xanthan gum or guar gum in an amount of 2-5% by weight, dimethyl sulfoxide in an amount of 0-20% by weight, benzyl dimethyl [3- (myristoylamino)propyl]ammonium chloride in an amount of 0.005-1% by weight and water - the rest up to 100% by weight.
