Abstract

This utility model relates to road construction and can be used in the construction and repair of roads and sidewalks, as well as in the improvement of adjacent areas. The facing cap for a curbstone comprises an upper portion for application to the upper edge of the curbstone and a rear portion for application to the rear edge of the curbstone. These caps are connected to each other and to a protective barrier located on the edge formed by the upper and rear portions of the cap and forming an obtuse angle with the upper portion. The technical result of the claimed solution consists in increasing the effectiveness of the curbstone's protective function, effectively isolating the roadway and sidewalks from adjacent areas.

Description

[0001] The utility model relates to the field of road construction and can be used in the construction and repair of roads and pedestrian sidewalks and in the improvement of adjacent territories.

[0002] A common problem is the erosion of soil along roadsides onto the roadway. Curbs don't always effectively prevent this. On the contrary, over time, erosion in the rock creates a natural channel for soil to wash onto roads and sidewalks. Furthermore, adjacent land is often higher than any existing curbs or kerbs. Excess soil and dirt on public roads not only has aesthetic consequences and creates inconvenience for residents due to dust in the air, but also generates additional costs for utilities, as soil must be collected and removed from city roads.

[0003] Various methods for strengthening and protecting curbs are known from the prior art.

[0004] In particular, a method for curb restoration is known, which includes the following steps: preliminary sealing of cracks and potholes, cleaning and priming of the curb surface, gluing a 2-3 cm thick L-shaped protective strip made of ultra-high-strength cement composite with PVA fiber, followed by joint grouting and sealing. The molded sheet has upper, lower, left, and right side edges, wherein the cross-section of the molded sheet is formed to repeat the geometry of the outwardly protruding surface of the curbstone and consists of a horizontal wall, an inclined wall, a front compensator, and a rear compensator, wherein the horizontal wall transitions into the inclined wall, the inclined wall transitions through a bend into the front compensator, and the horizontal wall transitions through a bend into the rear compensator. [0006] Such solutions are primarily designed for the restoration and protection of existing curbs, restoring their original form and functionality. They also provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance to damaged sections of the road barrier and protect its elements from further deterioration.

[0007] The difference of the declared technical solution, in particular, is the presence of an additional protective barrier located on the edge formed by the upper and back parts of the pad, and forming an obtuse angle with the upper part.

[0008] The objective of the declared technical solution is to improve the protective function of the installed curbstone with the help of a facing overlay by increasing the overall height of the barrier level formed by the curbstone and this overlay.

[0009] The technical result of the claimed solution is to increase the efficiency of the protective function of the curbstone for high-quality isolation of the road surface and sidewalks from the adjacent areas.

[0010] The claimed technical result is achieved due to the fact that the facing overlay for the curb stone contains an upper part for application to the upper edge of the curb stone and a back part for application to the back edge of the curb stone, connected to each other and to a protective barrier located on the edge formed by the upper and back parts of the overlay and forming an obtuse angle with the upper part.

Connecting the protective barrier to the top and back of the pad at the junction allows for easy positioning and installation on the curb corner, ensuring maximum protection against particles from the off-road area falling onto the roadway and vice versa, as in this design, the barrier is positioned directly at the level where the curb separates these zones. This prevents the contamination and accumulation of heavy dust and moisture on the curb surface, which would subsequently lead to contamination of the roadway, air pollution, and accelerated deterioration of the curb.

Because the protective barrier is positioned at an obtuse angle to the top (and, correspondingly, at an acute angle to the adjacent surface—lawn or soil, which is, on average, flush with the top of the curb), this design is characterized by sufficient stability. The resulting gently sloping section on the road side is more resistant to sudden impacts—rocks or water ricocheting from cars and flying debris from cleaning equipment. At the same time, the acute angle on the back side is more resistant to gradual soil pressure and reduces the fracture stress of the entire structure, thereby increasing the service life of the barrier and, consequently, the protective function of the pad.In addition, the sharp shape of the corner on the back side more effectively holds the flow of water with dirt, swirling it.

Claims

1. A facing overlay for a curbstone, comprising an upper part for application to the upper edge of the curbstone and a back part for application to the back edge of the curbstone, connected to each other and to a protective barrier located on the edge formed by the upper and back parts of the overlay and forming an obtuse angle with the upper part.

2. A facing strip for a curbstone according to paragraph 1, characterized in that the upper part and the back part are connected to each other at a right angle.

3. A facing strip for a curbstone according to paragraph 1, characterized in that the upper part is connected to the front part.

4. A facing strip for a curbstone according to paragraph 1, characterized in that the back part is connected with its lower side to a flat step facing in the opposite direction from the upper part.

5. A facing overlay for a curbstone according to paragraph 1, characterized in that the angle between the protective barrier and the upper part is 100-140 degrees.
