Abstract
Description
[0001] The utility model relates to shut-off valves and concerns the design of a device that allows connecting a rotary element of a ball valve with a movable element of a drive (pneumatic or electric) to change the position of this rotary element.
[0002] A device is known for connecting the stem of a ball valve with a drive for its rotation, made in the form of a cylinder with a blind hole on the side of one end and a square-section stem made integral with the cylinder and located on the side of the other end of the cylinder, wherein the transverse dimension of the stem is made smaller than the diameter of the cylinder along the outer surface (US 2020173572, F16K27 / 08, F16K35 / 02, published 04.06.2020).
[0003] This solution is adopted as a prototype.
[0004] Currently, there are no universal solutions for connecting elements that allow an actuator to be connected to a ball joint stem of any design. While actuator output elements are somewhat universal in design due to the fact that the receiving element of the coupling device interacts with the actuator output element by pressing the rectangular walls against the mating walls, albeit larger, of the driven element, the diversity of ball valve designs has led to the development of ball valve stems of widely varying shapes. Therefore, connecting to the actuator is generally straightforward. However, to ensure a precise connection to the ball joint stem, the shape and size of the hole in the coupling device must be adjusted to the shape and size of the stem. This means that a separate coupling device had to be manufactured for each type of ball valve.
[0005] This utility model is aimed at achieving a technical result consisting in expanding the operational capacity due to the possibility of fastening ball valves of various designs on rods.
[0006] The specified technical result is achieved by the fact that in the device for connecting the stem of the ball valve with the drive of its rotation, made in the form of a cylinder with a blind hole on the side of one end and a stem of rectangular cross-section, made integral with the cylinder and located on the side of the other end of the cylinder, wherein the transverse dimension of the stem is made smaller than the diameter of the cylinder along the outer surface, the stem is made square in cross-section and has beveled edges along its entire height at the junction of adjacent walls, the blind hole in the cylinder is made cylindrical with a diameter greater than the transverse dimension of the stem, in the side wall of the cylinder along mutually perpendicular axes located transversely to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder through holes are made, two of which, located opposite each other, are made with an internal screw thread for screwing in the locking stem of the ball valve screws,in this case, in the side wall of the cylinder, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of each hole with an internal screw thread, holes are made, the diameter of each of which is smaller than the diameter of the hole with an internal screw thread,
[0007] The specified features are essential and are interconnected to form a stable set of essential features sufficient to obtain the required technical result.
[0008] The utility model is explained by a specific example of execution, which, however, is not the only possible one, but clearly demonstrates the possibility of achieving the required technical result.

[0014] Fig. 6 - shows the position of the screws for fastening the ball valve stem in the device hole;
[0015] Fig. 7 - example of fixing the device on a ball valve.
[0016] According to this utility model, the design of a device for connecting a ball valve stem with its rotation drive is considered, which allows it to be used for stems of different designs and sizes of ball valves.
[0017] This device is made of metal (Figs. 1 and 2), in general, it is a cylinder 1 with a blind hole 2 on the side of one end and a rod 3 of rectangular (preferably square) cross-section. Rod 3 is made integral with the cylinder, it is located on the side of the other end of cylinder 1, and the transverse dimension of the rod is made smaller than the diameter of the cylinder along the outer surface of the latter. The rod has beveled edges 4 along its entire height at the junction of adjacent walls. Blind hole 2 in cylinder 1 is made cylindrical with a diameter greater than the transverse dimension of rod 3. The cavity of this hole is the area where the ball valve rod is located (Fig. 7).
[0018] To secure the ball valve stem in the cylinder cavity, through holes (Fig. 3-5) are made in the side wall of the cylinder along mutually perpendicular axes located transversely to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder, two 5 of which, located opposite each other, are made with an internal screw thread 6 for screwing in the ball valve stem locking screws 7 (Fig. 5 and 6). Each screw 7 (Fig. 6) is an element with an external thread, having a socket 8 for a tightening tool on one end. And the other end of the screw is made with a concave groove 9, directed transversely to the longitudinal axis 10 of the screw. After the ball valve stem is placed in the cavity of the blind hole, the screws are screwed into the holes 5 until the grooves 9 stop against the surface of the ball valve stem. In this case, an option is possible when the ball valve stem gets into both grooves. But there is a situation where the ball valve stem only fits into one groove. In this case, the second screw simply rests against the ball valve stem. When screwing in screws, use a sealant that, after polymerization, prevents the screws from loosening.
[0019] The other two holes 11, located opposite each other, have smooth walls and serve as viewing windows for visually assessing the ball valve stem's fastening condition and the position of the screws 7. These windows are located on an axis perpendicular to the axis of the through holes 5. Therefore, the ball valve stem and the ends of the screws engaged with it are clearly visible. The diameters of through holes 5 and 11 may be the same or differ slightly.
[0020] Since the ball valve's operability in automated systems based on remote control depends on the secure fastening of the stem, the claimed device provides the ability to lock the screws using a wire that prevents screws 7 from loosening. This is a well-known technique for locking screws and nuts. For this purpose, holes 12 are made in the side wall of the cylinder perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of each bore 5 with an internal screw thread. The screws also have through-holes for threading a wire. After screwing in screws 9 (with or without sealant), a wire is passed through holes 12 and the transverse holes in the screw body, the ends of which are twisted on the outer surface of cylinder 1.
[0021] Holes 12 can also be made with internal threads for screwing in locking screws (not shown in the drawings) until they stop against screws 7, to prevent them from loosening.
[0022] The versatility of this device, allowing it to be used on ball valve stems of various shapes and configurations, is based on the fact that the cavity formed in the blind hole 2 exceeds the transverse dimensions of the ball valve stems. The presence of inspection windows allows for visual assessment of the position of the ball valve stem within this cavity. The use of screws to secure the stem in this cavity allows for compensation of the difference in transverse dimensions between the blind hole and the ball valve stem.
[0023] This utility model is industrially applicable and is aimed at creating a transition part that allows any design of a ball valve stem to be rigidly connected to the driven element of the rotation drive of this stem.
