Abstract
Description
[0001] Field of technology to which the utility model belongs
[0002] The utility model relates to fishing devices, namely to spinning rods for deep-sea vertical fishing.
[0003] Technology Level
[0004] A POWER SUPPLY UNIT FOR A MULTIFUNCTIONAL FISHING ROD ELECTRIC REEL is known from the prior art [KR 20150100185 A, published 09 / 02 / 2015], comprising a housing with an opening, a battery module placed in the housing, protruding terminals of the module intended for supplying power to the electric reel through a power cable connection, as well as control elements and additional functional units made on the housing.
[0005] The disadvantage of this alternative is that its power supply is housed in a separate housing designed to be attached to the rod or carried by the user, and power is supplied to the electric reel via a power cable with protruding terminals, resulting in additional external components that inevitably increase the overall weight of the equipment carried by the user or attached to the rod. The presence of an external unit and cable creates a concentrated mass in the form of a separate unit, increasing the weight of the spinning rod.
[0006] Also known from the prior art is a BATTERY MOUNTING IN A FISHING ROD [KR 20060000120 U, published 13.12.2006], comprising a rechargeable battery installed in the area of the handle of the rod, and power terminals installed on the outside of the handle, intended for supplying electricity to an electric reel and for supplying energy from a charger during charging.
[0007] The disadvantage of this analogue is that the power output implemented in it to the external terminals located on the outer surface of the handle, and the need for an external connection of the electric reel through these terminals require the placement of additional structural elements on the handle (terminals, contact groups), which increase the weight of the spinning rod.
[0008] Also known from the prior art is an ELECTRIC FISHING ROD AND REEL MONOMANUEL [US 2013276348 A1, published 10 / 24 / 2013], comprising a rear part of the rod, an electric reel with a housing, an electric gear motor, a control module with controls, a processor, and a handle detachably attached to the rear part of the rod, wherein the batteries are placed in the handle, and a charging port is provided on the handle.
[0009] The disadvantage of this analog is that its placement of batteries in the removable handle and the presence of functional elements located on the handle and the rear of the rod, including the charging port and control module, lead to an increase in the weight of the handle section due to the need to install additional components and reinforce the removable joint. The removable joint and external functional elements in the grip and control area create localized areas that require structural reinforcement under cyclic bending loads, which, as a consequence, further increases the weight of the spinning rod.
[0010] The closest in technical essence is the ASSEMBLY OF A FISHING ROD WITH A BUILT-IN ENERGY STORAGE UNIT [US 12458008 B2, published 04.11.2025], comprising a tubular housing of a battery unit, placement of a storage battery in the battery housing, detachable connection elements, as well as a reel seat unit with a receiving tube for placing a blank and a wire channel made in which wires are placed that connect the storage battery unit with the reel connection unit, wherein the connection of the units provides for the mating of female and male tips and the corresponding electrical connectors.
[0011] The main technical issue with the prototype is that the detachable connection of the components via the connector housings and mating tips, as well as the wiring through the wiring channel incorporated into the reel seat and connected to the receiver tube, require an increase in the weight of the structure to ensure the required strength due to the multi-element nature of the connection and the presence of localized rigid sections in the connection area. During maneuvering and repeated alternating deviations of the blank, the load is concentrated in the area of the detachable connection and the wiring channel, necessitating an increase in the dimensions and rigidity of the component, which inevitably leads to an increase in the weight of the spinning rod component.
[0012] Disclosure of the essence of the utility model
[0013] The purpose of the utility model is to eliminate the shortcomings of the prototype.
[0014] The technical result of the utility model is to reduce the weight of the spinning rod.
[0015] The specified technical result is provided by a spinning rod containing a blank with an electric reel installed thereon, the blank is partially located in the internal cavity of a battery housing, which is connected to the blank by means of a transition element, a power source is located in the internal cavity of the battery housing, wherein the battery housing is made of a composite material, and the transition element is made of polyamide, the electrical connection of the power source to the electric reel is made by means of a cable passing through the internal cavity of the blank.
[0016] In a particular case, the battery case is made of a composite material based on fiberglass or fiberglass, or carbon fiber, or carbon fabric.
[0017] In a particular case, the transition element contains a plurality of holes and is connected to the blank with an epoxy resin binder.
[0018] In this particular case, the battery case is tubular.
[0019] In a particular case, the power source is made in the form of a lithium-ion battery or a lithium iron phosphate battery.
[0020] In a particular case, at the end of the battery case, opposite the place where it connects to the form, there is a cover that is removable, in particular with a threaded connection.
[0021] Brief description of drawings
[0022] The figure shows the declared spinning rod, viewed from the back.
[0023] The figure shows: 1 - blank; 2 - electric coil; 3 - battery case; 4 - transition element; 5 - power source; 6 - cable; 7 - cover.
[0024] Implementation of a utility model
[0025] The spinning rod comprises a hollow blank (1) with an electric reel (2) mounted thereon, a battery case (3) located on a section of the blank (1) on the grip side, wherein a part of the blank (1) is located in the internal cavity of the battery case (3), which is connected to the blank (1) by means of a transition element (4); a power source (5) is located in the internal cavity of the battery case (3), and the electrical connection of the power source (5) with the electric reel (2) is made by means of a cable (6).
[0026] Blank with electric reel
[0027] The blank (1) is hollow and serves as the rod's longitudinal supporting element. The blank's internal cavity (1) extends at least from the battery housing (3) to the reel mounting area (2) and is designed to accommodate the electric cable.
[0028] The electric coil (2) is mounted on the blank (1) in the control working area and secured to prevent movement relative to the blank (1) during operation. The electric coil (2) is equipped with an electrical connector for connecting the power cable.
[0029] The blank (1) is hollow, housing the main section of the cable within it. This ensures power is supplied to the electric reel (2) without requiring an extended external cable route along the grip assembly. The absence of an external cable eliminates the additional weight of the external cable, which helps reduce the overall weight of the spinning rod.
[0030] Battery case
[0031] The battery housing (3) is positioned on the blank (1) section on the grip side and forms the outer surface of the grip assembly. A portion of the blank (1) is located within the internal cavity of the battery housing (3), with the battery housing (3) enclosing the corresponding section of the blank (1). In a specific embodiment, the battery housing (3) is tubular and positioned coaxially relative to the blank (1).
[0032] The battery housing (3) is made of a composite material. In a specific embodiment, the battery housing (3) is made of a composite material based on fiberglass, fiberglass, carbon fiber, or carbon fabric. This housing design allows the housing to be formed as a thin-walled shell with a given grip geometry, reducing the weight of the spinning rod.
[0033] At the end of the battery case (3) opposite the junction of the battery case (3) with the form (1), a cover (7) is located, covering the internal cavity of the battery case (3). The cover (7) is removable, preferably with a threaded connection, with the possibility of opening the end part of the battery case (3) for installing and removing the power source (5) without dismantling the battery case from the form (1).
[0034] Transition element
[0035] The battery case (3) is connected to the blank (1) via a transition piece (4) made of polyamide. In this particular embodiment, the transition piece (4) is made of polyamide-6. The transition piece (4) contains multiple holes (not shown in the figure) and is connected to the blank with an epoxy resin binder. The presence of the holes ensures spatial mechanical anchoring of the binder, which allows for secure fixation of the battery case without the use of additional metal fasteners and without increasing the overall weight of the spinning rod.
[0036] Power supply and electrical connection
[0037] The power source (5) is housed within the battery case (3). In this particular embodiment, the power source (5) is a lithium-ion battery or lithium-iron phosphate battery. Placing the power source (5) within the battery case (3) eliminates the need for an external battery pack, thereby eliminating the added weight of additional external components.
[0038] The electrical connection between the power source (5) and the electric coil (2) is made via a cable (6). The main section of the cable (6) is routed through the internal cavity of the blank (1), and the cable (6) is routed externally only in the area near the electric coil (2), where it is connected to the electric coil (2). This arrangement eliminates the need for a long external cable along the blank, which also reduces weight, as a long external cable line is not required.
[0039] A set of features, including the placement of the power source (5) in the internal cavity of the battery case (3) covering the blank, the laying of the main section of the cable (6) inside the cavity of the blank (1), the production of the battery case (3) from a composite material, and the transition element (4) from polyamide, ensures a reduction in the overall weight of the spinning rod in its working configuration compared to analogs where the power source and cable are located outside.
[0040] The spinning rod is used as follows
[0041] Before fishing, ensure that the power source (5) is positioned inside the battery case (3). To do this, open the removable cover (7) of the battery case (3), install the power source (5) inside the battery case (3), and close the cover (7).
[0042] The electrical connection between the power source (5) and the electric reel (2) is accomplished via a cable (6), the main section of which is located within the internal cavity of the blank (1). The outer section of the cable (6) is limited to the area located near the electric reel (2), where the cable (6) is connected to the connector of the electric reel (2). As a result, there is no external cable route in the grip zone or along the main length of the blank (1), eliminating the additional weight of the external cable.
[0043] After connecting the power supply, hold the spinning rod by the grip assembly, which is based on the battery housing (3), and fish vertically. The rig is lowered to the desired depth, after which the electric reel (2) controls the line retrieve and rig lift. When changing the rod's position during fishing, move and rotate the rod within the working range of the blank (1).
[0044] The arrangement in which the power source (5) is located inside the battery case (3), and the battery case (3) covers part of the blank (1) and is connected to the blank (1) through a transition element (4), provides a compact grip unit and a reduction in the weight of the spinning rod in the working configuration.
[0045] Examples of using the utility model
[0046] A use case for the utility model was deep-sea vertical fishing with a spinning rod comprising a hollow rod blank with an electric reel mounted thereon, a battery case positioned on the blank's grip side and encompassing at least part of the rod blank, a transition element connecting the battery case to the rod blank, and a power source housed within the battery case's interior. The removable battery case lid was opened, the power source was placed within the battery case's interior, and the battery case was then closed with the lid. The power source was electrically connected to the electric reel via a cable, the main section of which was positioned within the blank's cavity, and the cable outlet was located near the electric reel for connection to the reel's connector. When vertical fishing, a 0.5-1.0 kg lure was lowered almost to the bottom, after which the spinning rod was moved up and down with an amplitude of 0.5-1.0 m to animate the lure. When a bite occurred, the electric reel was activated to retrieve the fish. These movements eliminated the additional weight of the external cable and battery pack, keeping the overall weight of the spinning rod in its working configuration to a minimum.
[0047] An alternative use case for this utility model was vertical fishing in confined spaces on a small vessel while drifting and with objects on deck. The spinning rod was prepared by installing a power source in the internal cavity of the battery housing and connecting the reel via a cable, the cable being routed externally near the reel. During fishing, the rod's position was frequently adjusted vertically and horizontally to adjust the direction of the retrieve and to maintain control of the rod in rough water. During these movements, the rod's light weight, thanks to the absence of a heavy external pulley and long cable, allowed for quick and effortless reorientation.
[0048] Another alternative use for this utility model was deep-sea fishing in low-temperature, high-humidity conditions, where two or three spare power sources were used during a single fishing trip. During fishing, the power source was replaced by opening the battery housing cover, removing the installed power source, placing the spare power source inside the housing, and then closing the cover. After replacing the power source, the electrical connection to the reel was maintained via a cable, the main section of which was located inside the blank. This ensured that when servicing the power source, the overall weight of the spinning rod was not increased by external components, and low inertia was maintained.
[0049] To confirm the technical result achieved, three spinning rods were compared under identical conditions. The first rod used was a spinning rod according to the claimed utility model, in which the power source was housed within the internal cavity of the battery housing, mounted on the blank section on the grip side. The electrical connection between the power source and the electric reel was made via a cable, with the main section of the cable located within the blank cavity and extending outside near the electric reel. The second rod used was a spinning rod with an electric reel, powered by an external battery pack. The connection to the reel was made via an external cable line laid along an extended section outside the blank. The third spinning rod used was a spinning rod with a rechargeable battery housed in the handle area, and power supplied to the reel via electrical terminals located on the outer surface of the handle, creating external electrical interface elements in the grip area. To eliminate the influence of external factors, we used blanks of the same length and class, reels of the same type, and power sources of the same nominal energy capacity.
[0050] The only parameter determined was the weight of the spinning rod in its working configuration (blank + electric reel + power source). For the second spinning rod, the weight of the external battery pack was also taken into account, as this pack had to be placed and handled during operation with the spinning rod.
[0051] According to the comparison results, the weight of the spinning rod in its working configuration was minimal for the claimed utility model, as the power source was housed inside the battery housing, and the cable was located inside the blank. For the second and third spinning rods, the weight was higher due to the external battery pack or external cable line and external terminals, respectively.
